What Made Me Go For an Overhead Garage Storage System

While setting up my garage of the new house after I changed cities, I was in a dilemma. On one hand I remembered how much clutter my earlier garage had acquired. I did not want the new one to look like the old one – it had become a challenge to find anything and store anything further there at the latter stages. But then I did not really want to throw away anything – I knew quite well that most of the items in the garage would come handy for me sometime or the other. In fact, I was at a complete loss about what to do.Over my first weekend when I was still setting the new house up, I happened to call my mom on the telephone. She kept asking me whether the new house I had found was good, how was my kid finding it and so on. I brought up the dilemma about my garage storage, and then what she suggested completely changed my thoughts. She asked me a simple question, “if land is scarce, why not the sky”?Well, I knew what she meant. Of course not the sky – but she was hinting me to use overhead garage storage. Now that the thought had dawned upon me, I started carefully evaluating the option. Apparently everything but one small thought all were in favor of going ahead with implementation of the suggestion.What were the positive parts of the thought? I realized that my garage overhead space would anyway remain unused. So I could store a serious amount of goods there if I could install a storage system. It would significantly reduce my floor clutter. I could space out well enough to store better – finding things would be easier. Additionally, if I fix good-looking cabinets then my garage would look better rather than worse.What was the negative thought that I had? It was that I would not want to store garage items that I still need frequently enough at those heights. There were a few such items but not too many. But since most of the items were not used too often, it was a relatively small hindrance.So I installed an overhead garage storage system. And I still think it was one of the best decisions that I had taken while setting up my new house.
